The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is set to embark on a significant financial restructuring by monetizing its Banda Bahadur Marg and Sukhdev Vihar bus depots. With an estimated revenue generation of Rs 2,600 crore, this initiative aims to revitalize the transit facilities in a self-sustainable manner, akin to the DMRC's asset monetization model.

According to a senior official, the plan was approved recently and includes developing these depots through projects that would not demand financial input from DTC. The broader effort focuses on improving the corporation's financial status, expanding parking capacity, and upgrading infrastructure through the commercialization of its properties.

The ambitious project, projected to yield Rs 1,858 crore and Rs 758 crore from the Banda Bahadur Marg and Sukhdev Vihar projects respectively, sets a completion timeline of 28 and 21 months. Engineering Projects India Ltd and NBCC are pivotal in executing these plans, ensuring DTC's growth beyond its traditional transport operations.
