GAIL Faces Profit Dip Amid Petrochemical Losses

State gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd experienced a 6% drop in net profit for the March quarter, attributed to losses in the petrochemical sector and lower gas marketing margins, according to a recent stock exchange filing.
Despite these setbacks, GAIL reported record revenue from operations of Rs 1.37 lakh crore in fiscal year 2025, highlighting a 28% increase in profit after tax and the highest-ever EBITDA in its history.
The company plans to transfer city gas licenses for six geographical areas to subsidiary GAIL Gas Ltd, aiming for greater efficiency and a retail-focused approach, pending Cabinet approval.
