A container and accompanying lifeboat from the fire-stricken Singaporean cargo ship, MV Wan Hai 503, have been discovered on the shores of Alappuzha district, Kerala, sparking concerns over potential further debris accumulation along the coastline.
Alappuzha District Collector Alex Varghese has confirmed that both the State Disaster Management Authority and the ship's proprietors have been notified. A salvage team is set to extricate the items, while customs officials have been dispatched to finalize necessary procedures.
The MV Wan Hai 503 experienced a fire last Monday following an explosion in one of its containers. While 18 of the crew have been saved, four remain unaccounted for, as professional salvors continue towing operations 45 nautical miles offshore.
