Vedanta's Massive Contribution: A Decade of Tax Transparency

Vedanta Ltd, under the leadership of Anil Agarwal, has disclosed a significant contribution to the government exchequer, totaling Rs 4.5 lakh crore over the past ten years. This remarkable feat underscores the company's unwavering commitment to transparent and responsible tax practices, as highlighted in its annual Tax Transparency Report (TTR).
The report details Vedanta's substantial contributions from FY15-16 to FY24-25, amounting to Rs 4,48,830 crore across its domestic and international operations. Notably, in FY25 alone, the company added Rs 55,349 crore, which constitutes 37 percent of its consolidated revenue, through a range of statutory payments including direct and indirect taxes, royalties, and dividends.
At the national level, Vedanta's operations span 15 Indian states. Specifically, its Rajasthan operations contributed Rs 25,436 crore, while Odisha added Rs 9,176 crore to the exchequer in FY25. A subsidiary of Vedanta Resources, the company operates across sectors involving natural resources, critical minerals, energy, and technology, with a presence in countries such as India, South Africa, Namibia, Liberia, and UAE.
