Ravi Thakor's concerns turned into reality when DNA tests confirmed the tragic demise of his mother and daughter in the devastating Air India crash in Ahmedabad, India. The catastrophe, which claimed more than 270 lives, has left families struggling with the overwhelming despair.
After initially hoping for a miracle, considering a passenger's unlikely survival from the crash, Thakor received his loved ones' remains on Thursday. "We are in deep sorrow as we proceed with the cremation of my mother and daughter," he said.
The crash resulted in 241 fatalities from the plane and over 30 on the ground. Rakesh Joshi, medical superintendent at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, confirmed that 211 DNA samples had been processed and 189 bodies returned to families.
