Air India CEO Campbell Wilson confirmed that the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner involved in the recent crash was meticulously maintained, with its last major inspection in June and the next due in December. The aircraft's engines were recently overhauled and showed no issues prior to the tragic event.
In response to the incident, Air India announced a temporary 15% reduction in its international wide-body fleet operations. This decision, effective from June 20, aims to allocate more backup aircraft and address potential scheduling impacts while enhancing pre-flight safety procedures across its Boeing 787 and 777 fleet.
The airline expressed its commitment to supporting the affected families and emphasized its cooperation with authorities to decipher the crash's cause. Air India extends apologies for any travel inconveniences during this period, assuring full dedication to passengers' safety and well-being.
