UK Grocery Regulator Launches Probe into Amazon's Supplier Payment Practices
Britain's grocery regulator is investigating Amazon for potentially breaching supplier payment rules over a three-year span. The probe will assess Amazon's payment systems and supplier treatment, with potential financial penalties. Amazon asserts compliance but plans to cooperate fully in the investigation.

The UK grocery regulator has initiated a probing investigation into Amazon's supplier payment practices, questioning if the retail behemoth has failed to adhere to established timeliness standards over the past three years.
The Groceries Code Adjudicator (GCA) is examining Amazon's adherence to paragraph 5 of the Groceries Supply Code of Practice, which mandates prompt supplier payments. In light of supplier challenges, this investigation holds Amazon's practices under close scrutiny.
Amazon, on its part, emphasizes its commitment to the Code and pledges cooperation with the GCA. However, the year's survey revealed mixed supplier feedback on Amazon's compliance, prompting this focused inquiry set to span until June 2025.
