The Gujarat police have embarked on the task of relocating the debris of the ill-fated Air India plane that crashed on June 12, hitting a medical college hostel in Ahmedabad, to the airport premises. This news was confirmed by officials overseeing the operation.

The tragedy occurred when the London-bound aircraft collided with the Meghaninagar hostel complex shortly after departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, claiming the lives of 270 people, including 241 passengers on board. Miraculously, one passenger survived the devastating crash.

The relocation of the wreckage is being directed to the GUJSAIL building, located on the airport premises, where it will remain under the custodianship of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). The AAIB is leading the investigation alongside the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). To date, 247 victims have been identified through DNA and 232 bodies have been returned to their families.
