NLC India Renewables Limited has emerged as a key player in the nation's clean energy drive, winning a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project by Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL). This landmark project, split across three substations in Tamil Nadu, underscores the company's commitment to sustainable power.

The ambitious BESS initiative will operate under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) framework, secured through a competitive tariff-based bidding process. NLC India Limited was previously recognized as the first Central Public Sector Undertaking to implement an 8 MWh BESS in the Andaman Islands, which has notably decreased diesel use.

Key to India's green energy vision, the project supports Tamil Nadu's utilities in peak demand management and renewable integration. NLCIL, aiming for a 10 GW renewable capacity by 2030, showcases its leadership in the sector. This development aligns with India's broader energy and climate goals, including a net-zero target by 2070.
