An Air India Express flight undertaking a journey from Delhi to Srinagar through Jammu was compelled to return to its starting point Monday afternoon, according to officials.
The decision to turn back was made as a precaution after suspected 'GPS interference' was detected. A spokesperson for the airline confirmed a replacement aircraft was deployed for passengers to complete their travel.
Flight IX-2564, initially scheduled to land in Jammu by noon, circled the area before its pilot chose not to land and returned to Delhi. Weather conditions and runway visibility were optimal, but navigational difficulties were suspected. Air India Express expressed regret for any passenger inconvenience, citing reports of GPS interference over certain sensitive regions.
