The Odisha government has taken a major step toward enhancing its maritime infrastructure by signing two concession agreements. One agreement involves the construction of a captive jetty near Paradip, while the other focuses on expanding Gopalpur Port. These initiatives reflect the state's robust industrial growth strategy.
With an investment of Rs 18,654 crore, the projects are expected to create approximately 8,450 direct and indirect jobs. The jetty, managed by JSW Utkal Steel Limited, will handle 52 million metric tons of cargo annually, while the upgraded Gopalpur Port will boost its capacity to 50 million metric tons, contributing significantly to Odisha's economic development.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in driving these projects.
