Sikkim's Push for Better Road Connectivity: A New Highway on the Horizon
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has urged the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to construct a new double-lane highway to improve connectivity with Siliguri town in West Bengal. He raised concerns over the existing Sevoke-Gangtok highway's challenges and expressed appreciation for the newly declared NH-210.

During a meeting with NHIDCL led by Managing Director Krishan Kumar, Tamang highlighted the persistent challenges faced by the existing Sevoke-Gangtok route due to its difficult terrain and unpredictable weather, urging for a long-term solution.
Tamang lauded the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways for declaring the Melli-Singtam route as NH-210, significantly boosting connectivity and economic opportunities in the region.
