Metro Railway services in Kolkata were disrupted for two hours on the Blue Line due to rainwater seeping into the tunnel between Central and Chandni Chawk stations during office hours on Monday.
Truncated services were provided between Maidan and Kavi Subhas, alongside Girish Park and Dakshineswar stations, in response to safety concerns. Metro officials acted swiftly upon detecting water on the tracks, suspending services between 9:05 am and 10:58 am.
Efforts to pump out water and seal ingress points were successful in restoring normal operations. A thorough investigation is planned to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
