In a move to enhance Odisha's socio-economic measurement, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja on Monday emphasized the necessity of a modern statistical system. Speaking at the 19th National Statistics Day, Ahuja stressed on the need for institutional capacity building to identify progress and areas needing improvement.
Development Commissioner Anu Garg supported the initiative, urging officials to develop the proposed statistical framework. This system is designed to effectively monitor the objectives laid out in the 'vision document' targeting 'Viksit Odisha - 2036 and 2047'.
Highlighting the importance of such data, Garg referenced the 'Subhadra' scheme as a successful model, where a robust database aids in implementing beneficiary programs. Further insights were shared by Ashish Kumar, former director-general of the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, who underscored the NSO's role in providing vital data for the unorganised sectors.
