In a groundbreaking move, Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) has inaugurated India's first specialized Centre for AI, Law & Regulation in London at the esteemed Law Society of England and Wales. This Centre marks a significant advancement in India's legal landscape, focusing on the intersection of artificial intelligence, law, and public policy.
Funded by a substantial ₹15 crore endowment from Cyril Shroff, Managing Partner of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, the Centre reflects a commitment to ethical AI regulation and justice. Positioned at JGLS, India's premier law institute, it seeks to foster interdisciplinary research, executive education, and international partnerships to drive the future of law technology.
The launch featured a keynote by Professor David B. Wilkins from Harvard Law School and a panel discussion with global AI and law experts. The Centre aims to contribute to the global dialogue on AI governance while shaping AI law from the Global South perspective. It positions India as a potential leader in responsible AI governance and legal innovation.
