SAS Expands Fleet with $4 Billion Embraer Deal
Scandinavian Airline SAS has announced its agreement to purchase up to 55 aircraft from Brazil's Embraer in a deal worth approximately $4 billion. This purchase includes 45 E195-E2 planes with an option for 10 more. The new jets, scheduled for delivery starting in 2027, aim to enhance SAS's fleet and operational flexibility.

Scandinavian Airline SAS revealed its plans on Tuesday to significantly expand its fleet through a substantial purchase agreement with Brazil's Embraer. The deal, valued at around $4 billion excluding purchase options, involves acquiring up to 55 aircraft.
SAS has finalized a committed acquisition of 45 E195-E2 aircraft, with an option to procure an additional 10 units, according to CEO Anko van der Werff, who announced the news at a press event in Copenhagen. Deliveries are expected to commence in late 2027.
SAS indicated that the jets' size and range fit well with its current fleet and network, allowing for increased frequency, improved flexibility, and reduced trip costs. The E195-E2 models are designed to accommodate up to 146 passengers, placing them in competition with the Airbus A220 in the regional jet market.
