The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has successfully collected Rs 3.4 crore from fines imposed on illegal passengers in June, according to officials. The campaign, which focused on eradicating irregular travel and illegal activities, was orchestrated under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal.

Throughout June, the diligence of the ticket checking staff uncovered 5,462 instances of irregular travel, resulting in the hefty fine collection. Intensive inspections were regularly conducted to ensure compliance and to restrict unauthorized entry onto trains.

This initiative is also committed to maintaining the cleanliness of the station premises, demonstrated by the Rs 19,000 collected from fines for littering. The ongoing effort aims to secure a more comfortable and orderly travel experience for legitimate rail users by continuing to address irregular travel, illegal vending, littering, and smoking.
