A United Kingdom aviation engineering team is set to land in Thiruvananthapuram to address the technical fault of a stranded F-35B Lightning jet. The aircraft, from Britain's Royal Navy, has been stationed at the Thiruvananthapuram Airport since its emergency landing on June 14.

Originally scheduled for a July 2 arrival, plans shifted to July 5 as a 40-member team is now gearing up to tackle the repair. The F-35B, an integral part of the HMS Prince of Wales Carrier Strike Group, faces an unspecified issue that necessitates specialist equipment brought by the UK team.

The fighter jet, parked securely and monitored by a team from the HMS Prince of Wales, will be transported to the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul facility. Known for its STOVL capabilities, the jet is celebrated for its adaptability to smaller decks, austere bases, and varied marine platforms.
