In a significant move to bolster passenger safety, over 1.6 million frontline railway employees have received extensive training to tackle medical emergencies effectively. This development was revealed by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
The minister addressed inquiries regarding emergency medical centers within the railway network, noting that the Supreme Court had assessed the necessity of such facilities. Following the Court's directives, a specialized committee at AIIMS provided guidelines.
Vaishnaw reported that railway stations and trains are now equipped with medical kits, while employees, including ticket examiners and train guards, undergo continuous first-aid refresher training. Moreover, stations have contact lists for nearby hospitals, ensuring swift medical response when needed.
