The Punjab government has constituted three textile-specific committees tasked with providing insights for a new industrial policy, as announced by the state's industries minister, Sanjeev Arora, on Wednesday.
The goal is to attract more investment and generate employment in the textile sector. Vardhman Group's S P Oswal, Monte Carlo's Sandeep Jain, and industrialist Rajnish Gupta will chair the spinning, apparel, and dyeing committees respectively.
Each committee will consist of 8-10 members, and is expected to submit recommendations by October 1. The additional deputy commissioner of Ludhiana has been appointed as a member secretary to coordinate activities.
