Monsoon Havoc: 385 Roads Blocked in Himachal Pradesh

Heavy rains have led to the closure of 385 roads in Himachal Pradesh, including two National Highways, officials reported on Wednesday. The Mandi-Kotli road on National Highway 70 and portions of NH 707 in Sirmaur are now obstructed due to landslides.
In Mandi alone, a disaster-struck area, 252 roads remain blocked, affecting transportation and communication significantly. Alongside road closures, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) revealed that 263 power transformers and 220 water supply schemes have been disrupted.
The monsoon hit Himachal Pradesh on June 22, resulting in 76 fatalities and 34 missing persons in rain-related incidents. The season has seen 40 flash floods, 23 cloudbursts, and 25 landslides, causing damages approximating Rs 1,247 crore, according to SEOC data.
