The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced Thursday that their initial investigation suggests the fatal crash of an Air India Boeing 787 was not the result of a mechanical issue with the aircraft's fuel control unit.
Speaking at an air show, FAA head Bedford emphasized the agency's high level of confidence in their findings. 'We can say with a high level of confidence that it doesn't appear to be a mechanical issue with the Boeing fuel control unit,' he said.
FAA employees conducted extensive tests, removing and examining the units and employing inspectors to review the aircraft. 'We feel very comfortable that this isn't an issue with inadvertent manipulation of fuel control,' Bedford reassured reporters.
