Kinetic Engineering Ltd. aims to reclaim its place in the two-wheeler market by reintroducing its classic DX model as an electric scooter, dubbed the Kinetic DX. This announcement was made on Monday as the company unveiled its reimagined scooters through its electric vehicle division, Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd. (KWV).

The Kinetic DX, available in two versions - the standard DX and the feature-loaded DX+ - maintains its nostalgic design while integrating cutting-edge electric technology and high-tech features. Priced between Rs 1,11,499 and Rs 1,17,499 ex-showroom in Pune, the scooters are expected to commence deliveries in September 2025. The company has made 35,000 units available for initial booking, with reservations open online for Rs 1000.

Both scooters boast a metal body, spacious setup, and 37 liters of under-seat storage space. A 2.6 kWh LFP battery from Range-X powers the scooters, promising a range of up to 116 km on the DX+ and a durability advantage over conventional NMC batteries. With a top speed capability of 90 km/h, the scooters feature three ride modes: Range, Power, and Turbo. Add-ons include regenerative braking, hill hold, reverse mode, sophistications in suspension, and a comprehensive braking system.

Innovative features like a keyless start (Easy Key), a retractable charging cable (Easy Charge in DX+), and a one-touch pillion footrest (Easy Flip) make these scooters stand out. The DX+ goes further by offering app connectivity, real-time data, GPS security solutions, and voice alerts for navigation and safety. Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman of Kinetic India, emphasized that revamping the famed Kinetic DX was a nod to its enduring legacy and aimed at infusing the spirit of reliability and innovation into a future-ready version.
