Domestic tourism in Jammu and Kashmir reached record levels, exceeding 95 lakh visits from January to June, as per data from the government.
Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat revealed these figures while addressing concerns over a possible decline in tourist arrivals and business losses caused by a terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Despite the security challenges, the Ministry of Tourism has not conducted an assessment of the attack's economic impact on tourism-reliant stakeholders. Efforts to promote tourism in the region continue unabated.
