Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has laid out ambitious growth objectives for state-run telecom operator BSNL, urging it to expand its mobile service division by 50% within the coming year. Scindia communicated these directives during a strategic briefing with the heads of BSNL's various circles and business units.
The minister emphasized the need for each strategic business unit to boost its enterprise segment by 25-30% and its fixed-line services by at least 15-20%. Addressing reporters post-meeting, Scindia underscored the importance of raising average revenue per user (ARPU) by enhancing customer satisfaction and broadening the subscriber base.
With BSNL's ARPU varying between Rs 40 and Rs 175 across different regions, Scindia pointed out that investment in customer relationship management could bridge this gap. Highlighting financial strides, the minister noted the company's historic capex of Rs 25,000 crore. BSNL has recently reported profits in two consecutive quarters for the first time in 18 years.
