In a significant uptick, leasing of industrial and warehousing spaces climbed by 63% in the first six months of the calendar year, according to CBRE. The spike, recorded at 27.1 million square feet across eight major cities, is fueled by an upsurge in demand from e-commerce players.
CBRE's recent findings reveal that third-party logistics (3PL) firms accounted for 32% of the leased spaces from January to June, while e-commerce entities took a 25% share. This dominance highlights the rapid changes in consumer behavior and the optimization of supply chains, underscoring shifts in the industrial sector.
CBRE's CEO for India and other regions, Anshuman Magazine, anticipates the next phase of growth will be led by premium, sustainable, and technologically advanced facilities. Additionally, demand in tier-II cities is on the rise, reflecting increased confidence among occupiers and developers in India's industrial and logistics sectors.
