The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department is set to implement India's first AI-driven road safety pilot project, as approved by the Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. The groundbreaking initiative aims to curtail road mishaps and upsurge enforcement efficacy.
Scheduled for a six-week prototype period, the project will seamlessly integrate a multitude of data sources, culminating in AI models that precisely pinpoint accident causations and predict black spots. This zero-cost venture, facilitated by ITI Limited and mLogica, will provide comprehensive oversight across all core functions of the Transport Department.
Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narain Singh has declared the initiative a national exemplar in data-driven governance, with AI integration extending beyond road safety into licensing and revenue mechanisms. The ministry states that the project will comply with relevant legal frameworks while advancing real-time, data-driven insights and enforcement capabilities.
