Bharat B Bhatia Takes Key Role in International Telecom Governance

The ITU-APT Foundation of India (IAFI) announced the appointment of its President, Bharat B Bhatia, to significant international roles within the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity's Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-27 (APG-27). Bhatia now serves as Vice Chairman and Chair of the Editorial Committee.

IAFI actively promotes professional and organizational engagement in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT). Bhatia's nomination, proposed by APG-27's Chairman, was unanimously supported by delegations from 30 Asian countries and confirmed on July 28 in Pattaya, Thailand.

Bhatia's new role underscores India's growing influence in international telecommunications, particularly regarding spectrum policy. During the pivotal APG-27 meeting, India's contributions included key issues like IMT spectrum sharing and radio altimeter operations, showcasing its dedication to global telecom discourse.
