The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reached a significant milestone in its Phase 4 expansion by successfully completing a tunnel breakthrough on the Tughlakabad–Aerocity corridor, according to an official statement released Tuesday.

The breakthrough was achieved by a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) that excavated a 792-metre underground stretch between Tughlakabad and Tughlakabad Railway Colony. The event was marked by the presence of senior officials, including Railway Board Member (Infrastructure) Naveen Gulati.

A total of 559 concrete rings were installed by the 91-metre-long TBM using Earth Pressure Balancing Method (EPBM) technology. The accomplishment ensures limited disruption to existing surface structures and demonstrates the DMRC's continued commitment to efficient, urban-friendly infrastructure development.
