An Indian national has tragically died in a small plane crash near Deer Lake in eastern Canada. The Consulate General of India in Toronto confirmed the death of Gautam Santhosh following the accident involving a commercial survey aircraft.
The crash occurred shortly after the aircraft, a Piper PA-31 Navajo registered to Kisik Aerial Survey Inc., took off from Deer Lake Regional Airport on July 26. Both the pilot and his passenger, aged 54 and 27 respectively, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police closed the Trans-Canada Highway near the crash site to facilitate emergency response. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the cause, with Kisik Aerial Survey pledging full cooperation. The Consulate is in contact with the victim's family, offering assistance and condolences.
