In a significant development, U S Awasthi, the long-serving Managing Director of Indian Farmers' Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO), is set to retire on July 31. His tenure, spanning over three decades, has seen transformative changes within the cooperative.
At a board meeting in the national capital, Awasthi expressed his gratitude to the board members for the opportunity to lead the cooperative. An appointment of a new managing director is imminent following Awasthi's departure, according to sources.
Under Awasthi's stewardship since 1993, IFFCO emerged as a global leader in the fertiliser sector. IFFCO's production capacity surged by 292 percent, while its net worth adjusted by 688 percent to Rs 6,510 crore. This period also marked significant diversification into various business ventures, enhancing its national and international investments.
