India's wireless phone subscriber base reached 1170.88 million at June's end, as reported by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). This marks a 0.21% increase from May's 1168.42 million.

Urban subscribers primarily drove the growth, growing from 634.91 million to 637.87 million, a 0.47% increase. Conversely, rural subscriptions slightly decreased by 0.10% to 533.00 million. Notably, the wireless mobile segment alone added 2 million subscribers during June.

India's wireless tele-density showed a mild improvement, reaching 82.74% in June. Private service providers dominated the market with a 92.20% share. The expansion of 5G Fixed Wireless Access further highlighted the demand for next-gen services, rising from 7.40 million to 7.85 million subscribers.
