New Delhi, July 30: India aims to transform its manufacturing sector through the newly launched 'Build in Bharat' initiative, spearheaded by the Startup Policy Forum (SPF), an alliance of over 50 innovative companies. This strategic move aligns with India's ambition to emerge as a developed nation by 2047.

In a significant development, Ather Energy, a notable member of SPF, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. This landmark agreement, witnessed by Joint Secretary Sanjiv Singh and Ather Energy's CEO Tarun Mehta, is anticipated to drive sustainable transport solutions and foster a thriving environment for manufacturing-driven startups.

The partnership is poised to boost investment, expand domestic manufacturing capabilities, enhance skill development, and generate employment in the electric vehicle sector and advanced manufacturing. The Build in Bharat initiative symbolizes a deeper commitment to nurturing a resilient and innovation-driven industrial ecosystem in India.

At the signing ceremony, Sanjiv Singh hailed the burgeoning transformation within India's electric mobility space, emphasizing the collaboration's potential to foster meaningful contributions from startups in EV production, battery innovation, and clean energy advancement. Ather Energy's Tarun Mehta expressed optimism about the strengthened industry support for hardware and deep-tech startups, highlighting the initiative as a facilitator for scaling high-quality Indian products.

Shweta Rajpal Kohli, President and CEO of the Startup Policy Forum, remarked that the DPIIT and Ather Energy partnership epitomizes the Build in Bharat initiative, unlocking the potential of India's manufacturing sector through collaborative efforts.
