Safety Lapses: Alarming Rise in Roadside Tragedies in India

The International Road Federation has raised an alarm over the rampant disregard for roadwork safety norms across India, which has been a major factor in an increasing number of fatal accidents.

Numerous construction sites reportedly lack adequate signage, reflective tapes, and safety measures, leading to deadly crashes, especially at night.

In response to recent fatal incidents, including one on the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, the IRF-India Chapter demands urgent action from authorities to enforce safety guidelines and impose penalties on violators to mitigate further tragedies.
