The issue of overcharging by taxi drivers in Goa is back in the spotlight, with Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho revealing that only a single formal complaint has been lodged despite numerous allegations. This was confirmed in the legislative assembly on Wednesday.

Responding to questions from BJP legislator Digambar Kamat, Minister Godinho noted that the Directorate of Tourism had previously received a complaint about steep taxi fares. The case has been passed along to the appropriate authorities for further action.

In the same discussion, Godinho mentioned the presence of a robust fleet of taxis operating across Goa, highlighting the government's dedication to safeguarding local drivers' livelihoods amidst the tourism downturn caused in part by these pricing issues.
