In a landmark development, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated a Rs 340-crore PepsiCo bottling plant in Medipathar, North Garo Hills. The facility is poised to be a beacon of economic growth, generating employment and fostering ancillary industries in the region.
Mendipathar, notable as Meghalaya's sole town with a railway head, now hosts the largest bottling unit in the Northeast, an achievement Sangma calls a 'blessing' for the state. This project, he asserts, will stimulate aspirations among the youth and propel economic expansion.
The 37-acre industrial endeavor signifies the fulfillment of a vision conceived in the 1990s. As the plant begins operations, it is expected to drive demand in local housing, retail, and services sectors, reviving hopes for comprehensive regional development.
