InterGlobe Aviation Limited, the parent company of IndiGo, reported a significant net profit of Rs 2,176 crore for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025-26. Despite facing numerous challenges, including geopolitical tensions, airspace restrictions, and a tragic aviation accident in Ahmedabad, the airline achieved a notable 12 percent increase in passenger volumes, accommodating 3.1 crore passengers between April and June 2025.
Although revenue from operations experienced a growth of 4.7 percent, reaching Rs 20,496 crore, the airline's profit after tax saw a sharp decline of 20.2 percent compared to Rs 2,729 crore in the first quarter of 2024-25. CEO Pieter Elbers acknowledged the industry's challenges, stating that these external disruptions significantly impacted the aviation sector. Nevertheless, IndiGo recorded a net profit margin of about 11 percent for the quarter ended June 2025.
Looking ahead, Elbers expressed confidence in the sustained growth of air travel. Despite a reduction in the revenue environment, the demand remained robust, evidenced by the 31 million passengers served in the quarter. As of June 30, 2025, IndiGo operated a fleet of 416 aircraft and conducted 2,269 daily flights, serving 91 domestic and 41 international destinations.
