Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has set an ambitious goal to elevate India's automobile industry to the top rank globally. The industry, having grown significantly to a size of Rs 22 lakh crore, currently stands third, behind the United States and China.

Addressing an event, Gadkari highlighted that the auto sector supports 4.5 crore jobs, the highest in the country. He praised the industry for its substantial contribution to government revenues through GST. However, he also flagged the pressing issue of pollution, which is a significant economic concern.

Gadkari called for urgent innovation in developing greener and alternative fuels to tackle pollution. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of diversifying agriculture towards energy and power solutions to support sustainable growth in the sector.
