The Uttarakhand Tourism Department is set to introduce a detailed master plan aimed at managing crowds effectively at religious and pilgrimage sites across the region. This initiative, following a tragic stampede at Haridwar's Mansa Devi temple, emphasizes safeguarding visitors through improved safety protocols.
In response to the incident that claimed nine lives, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed the creation of a secure and organized framework for pilgrim safety. A directive has been issued for the implementation of security measures, crowd control, and enhanced facilities including separate entry and exit routes, and emergency evacuation plans.
This comprehensive plan will involve the removal of illegal encroachments and the inclusion of essential amenities such as clean drinking water, toilets, first aid, and adequate parking facilities. Collaboration with regional authorities is vital to the plan's success, ensuring a streamlined and safe pilgrimage experience for visitors statewide.
