Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, has achieved a significant feat in the realm of interventional cardiology by performing the youngest Valve-in-Valve Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (ViV-TAVI) in India on a 38-year-old woman. The procedure marks a new milestone in the country's medical landscape.

The patient, Smt. Bandakindhi Swapna, faced severe bioprosthetic valve stenosis indicative of structural valve degeneration. Her complex medical history, including previous surgical intervention and existing conditions such as Bronchial Asthma and Anaemia, presented a high-risk challenge, which many hospitals were not equipped to handle with minimally invasive solutions.

Under the guidance of Dr. Karunakar Rapolu, Apollo's Heart Team undertook a comprehensive evaluation and opted for the innovative Valve-in-Valve TAVI procedure, utilizing the Allegra self-expanding transcatheter valve. This method avoids open-heart surgery, providing a successful outcome with the patient experiencing marked symptomatic relief and a swift recovery.
