Tata Motors faced a challenging month in July 2025 as it recorded a 4% decrease in total vehicle sales compared to the same period last year. Overall dispatches fell to 69,131 units, down from 71,996 units in July 2024.
Despite the decline, the company celebrated a milestone with its highest-ever monthly electric vehicle (EV) sales, representing a significant step in its zero-emission initiative. The EV sales surged by 42%, growing from 5,027 vehicles in July 2024 to 7,124 vehicles in July 2025. The overall drop was primarily due to an 11% reduction in passenger vehicle sales, with total sales plummeting to 40,175 units from 44,954 units a year prior.
In contrast, the commercial vehicle segment provided some respite, with sales increasing by 7% year-on-year to 28,956 units, up from 27,042 units in the corresponding period of 2024. This growth underscores the ongoing recovery in infrastructure and construction-related demand. Total domestic sales for July amounted to 65,953 units, marking a 6% dip from 70,161 units last year. Moreover, sales for medium and heavy commercial vehicles reached 12,387 units, increasing from 11,174 units in July 2024.
