Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal spearheaded a high-profile meeting with leading steel producers in Mumbai on Saturday, emphasizing advancements in technology, logistics efficiency, and bolster iron ore production. Aiming to strengthen India's position in global value chains, the focus was also on boosting MSME competitiveness.

"We had a fruitful discussion with top steel industry figures on adopting advanced technology, reducing logistics costs, increasing iron ore output, and expanding India's global value chain role. Our MSMEs play a crucial part in this vision," Goyal remarked in an X post, highlighting the government's supportive policy framework for the sector.

Goyal further engaged with engineering goods sector leaders, acknowledging them as "champions of precision, performance & progress," reinforcing the government's dedication to transforming India into a global engineering powerhouse under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India schemes. The meetings align with government initiatives to safeguard steel and allied sector stakeholders amid the U.S. tariffs' instability.
