Air India Express Flight Makes Precautionary Return to Bengaluru
An Air India Express flight from Bengaluru to Kolkata returned due to a technical issue after being airborne for over two hours. An Air India Express flight en route to Kolkata from Bengaluru had to turn back due to technical complications on Sunday evening. The Airbus A320, identified as flight IX2718, returned safely after being airborne for over two hours. The flight had been monitored on Flightradar24.com.
According to a spokesperson from Air India Express, the plane circled to shed fuel and weight before executing a precautionary landing back at Bengaluru airport. "One of our flights returned due to a technical issue. We prioritized safety and executed a safe landing," the spokesperson confirmed in a statement released on Monday.
Passengers were later transported to Kolkata on an alternate aircraft while an investigation into the technical snag is currently underway. Details about the number of passengers on board were not disclosed by the airline.
