Tripura has made significant strides in upgrading its railway infrastructure with the successful commissioning of power supply to the Teliamura traction sub-station in Khowai district. This pivotal move will introduce electric train services to the area, marking a shift from diesel-run trains, according to an official statement released on Monday.
The Udaipur traction sub-station in Gomati district was also commissioned recently, further paving the way for electrified train operations in the state. Officials from the Northeastern Frontier Railway are keen to enhance the region's transport capabilities by transitioning to electric trains, a plan that promises notable benefits.
The initiative, which falls under the Centre's mission to broaden electrified rail connectivity, is expected to improve train service efficiency, reduce costs, and lower carbon emissions. This project not only strengthens Tripura's transport infrastructure but also stabilizes power supply in Teliamura and surrounding areas, boosting both commuter and resident experiences.
