The Arunachal Pradesh Innovation and Investment Park (APIIP) is set to expand, as announced by Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday. This expansion aims to accommodate more startups and enhance the state's Entrepreneurship Development Programme.
Khandu revealed plans to upgrade the investment cell within the planning, investment, and finance department to a full-fledged directorate. This directorate would promote and invest independently in innovative ventures. Over the past four years, APIIP has supported 106 startups across diverse sectors like agriculture, IT, and tourism, with 38% being women-led.
APIIP has made strides by becoming the first state incubator in India to use Artificial Intelligence for shortlisting applications, selecting 50 new startups. To nurture future innovations, APIIP will collaborate with seven educational institutions. Start-up cells will be established within these institutions to support student entrepreneurs. The state government has also launched the 'YES Arunachal' program, aiming to unify government schemes for youth empowerment.
