In a commendable step towards transparent commuting, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has praised the Nagara app for its adherence to traditional meter-based fare systems in Bengaluru's auto rickshaws.

Launched in June 2024 and relaunched last month, Nagara app aims to revive the bygone era of honest meter fares, eliminating hidden costs and commissions. According to Surya, this initiative, led by youngsters, is crucial for improving the first and last mile connectivity to metro stations.

The recent fare revision by the Regional Transport Authority, which increased the minimum fare to Rs 36 for the first 2 km, puts further emphasis on the app's timely promise of affordability.
