Mumbai's iconic suburban railways faced a severe disruption on Tuesday, as relentless rainfall submerged tracks on the Harbour line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kurla. The track conditions halted services for over 12 hours.

Central Railway spokesperson Swapnil Nila reported persistent 15-inch waterlogging at Chunabhatti station, which thwarted train operations. Services from Kurla to Panvel restarted around 10 PM after some tracks cleared, but full service restoration on the main line didn't occur until the evening.

This unexpected suspension left commuters stranded, many wading through the waterlogged tracks as some long-distance trains faced rescheduling and cancellations.
