Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw addressed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, highlighting the measures undertaken to combat waterlogging in railway underpasses in Dharashiv, Maharashtra. The issue, arising during heavy rains in a few underpasses, has been tackled efficiently with the use of pumping systems.

Vaishnaw responded to a query regarding this pressing concern, noting that of the 30 Road Under Bridges (RUBs) in Dharashiv, only a few are affected by waterlogging. He emphasized the Railways' commitment to resolving the problem through both new developments and remedial measures in existing structures.

The Minister elaborated on several strategies, such as the integration of adequate drainage systems in new constructions and the adaptation of existing RUBs with features like cross drains, water flow diversion, and pumps. These efforts, he noted, ensure prompt resolution of any waterlogging instances, prioritizing road user safety.
