The Railway Board has greenlit the launch of the Joint Parcel Product-Rapid Cargo Service (JPP-RCS) train from Kashmir to Delhi, aimed at revolutionizing trade routes for fruit and handicraft dealers. This service promises a dependable alternative for showcasing local produce nationwide.
Commencing from Budgam Railway Station, the daily service features an SLR with eight parcel vans and is expected to run more efficiently than road transport, reaching Delhi in approximately 23 hours. Security oversight is ensured by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, as the project enters its first year of pilot operations.
Railway officials emphasize the potential economic boost, connecting traders to broader markets and integrating railways with private sectors. This initiative not only facilitates more efficient courier services but also promotes products like apples, saffron, and Pashmina shawls beyond local markets, potentially generating new employment opportunities.
