In a recent analysis by BNP Paribas, Reliance Jio solidifies its position as India's most cost-effective mobile service provider. Despite competitive pricing by Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi), Jio's data offerings at identical price points continue to surpass those of its rivals, reinforcing its appeal to data-intensive consumers.
The report detailed pricing structures, noting that all three major operators charge INR 299 for 28-day plans. However, Jio provides more data, particularly evident in annual plans priced at INR 3,599, where Jio offers 2.5GB/day compared to Airtel and Vi's 2GB/day. Jio thus emerges as the go-to option for heavy data users seeking affordability.
Noteworthy among its offerings, Jio's Rs 799 plan—providing 1.5GB of data daily for 84 days—is easily accessible via platforms like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, and Jio's website. Conversely, the Rs 249 plan is now restricted to physical Jio Stores, while the Rs 209 plan is exclusive to the MyJio app. Plans tailored to voice-centric users remain, like the Rs 189 option, which includes unlimited calls, SMS, and 2GB of data over 28 days.
The analysis further highlights Jio's competitive pricing, with plans around the Rs 200, Rs 300, and Rs 350 marks offering 1GB/day, 1.5GB/day, and 2GB/day respectively. Customers benefit from a notable monthly saving of Rs 50 on comparable data plans against Airtel and Vi. For instance, Jio's 1.5GB/day, 28-day plan costs Rs 299, whereas Airtel and Vi charge Rs 349.
Ultimately, Jio's strategic pricing supports its standing as the cheapest telecom operator among India's leading players, offering compelling data values at reduced costs and ensuring tangible monthly savings for its patrons.
